Questions & Answers

Why not shave?

Shaving stimulates potential hair growth and can strengthen the hair follicle. Shaving also cuts the hair at the hair shaft, which not only grows back with a stubbly feel, but it allows the hair to grow back the next day or in some cases the same day.

Can I go to the tanning booth or sunbathe after my wax treatment?

It is not recommended for 24-48 hours, as tanning can inflame the skin.

How long should my hair be before getting waxed?

Hair should be approximately a 1/4 inch or longer for best results, generally two weeks of growth.

Should I trim my hair before my service?

It is not necessary. Trimming will be performed at the time of service, if necessary.

Can I be waxed during my menstrual cycle?

Waxing during your menstrual cycle is possible but is not recommended. During that time your body tends to be more sensitive due to the change of hormones and this could cause the service to be painful. If your doctor permits, take Advil or Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment.

How should I take care of my skin before and after waxing?

You will want to refrain from extended sun exposure 48 hours prior to waxing. Several days before your waxing service, you should gently exfoliate the area. On the day of waxing cleanse the area and refrain from lotions/oils/deodorant. After waxing, you will want to refrain from sun exposure for 48 hours. Do not soak in hot tubs and avoid extremely hot water, as the pores on your skin are still open. As soon as you feel comfortable, begin exfoliating to prevent ingrown hairs.

How often do I need to wax?

Waxing removes hair at the root, so results last as long as it takes for new hair to grow. This should take about four to six weeks after your first session, although it varies from individual to individual.

What medications restrict me from waxing?

There are many medications that you should not take if waxing. Accutane, Proactive, Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Avage, StrVectin, Differin, Glycolic, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid. If you have had any kind of microdermabrasion or chemical peel in the last 3 days, please refrain from waxing. I care about your skin, and if you are unsure, please consult your doctor before making an appointment.
